WWDC 2025 live: Updates from Apples keynote including new iOS iPadOS Apple Intelligence and more

What an Apple orchard ripe for picking! WWDC is back after an elapse, and the air is rippling with anticipation. Last year’s Apple intelligence reveal could very well be described as a late bloomer behind both Google and Microsoft. Prepare yourself for the most juicily biggest reveals: the freshest flavors of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and visionOS. Time to upgrade, people.

One forgets the confusing jumble of version numbers in this telluric universe. Then, Apple might have shed its fractured naming system in favor of a singular, year-based one. Imagine: iOS 26, iPadOS 26, watchOS 26, sold out on a visual concord instead of the current jealous numbering. Could this be the end of deciphering iOS 19 versus watchOS 12, and a simpler future for Apple’s operating systems?

Enough of iOS 19, prepare for iOS ’26! According to the rumor mills, Apple is supposedly mulling over the major break from the generational game and thus switching to year-based naming for its operating systems. Instead of strangely figuring out iPadOS 19, you will directly know that you have got iPadOS 26 coinciding with the year in use. Will the seemingly arbitrary numbering finally be put to rest? All eyes will definitely be on Apple’s big reveal later today.

For those who’ve remembered the leap the Galaxy S10 took to Galaxy S20, yes, they pulled a fast one on the calendar back in 2020. Here comes the S25 now, and it feels good. The Galaxy Z series foldables are still stuck in generation anxiety since the Z Fold 6 hit the shelves last year. I guess it would be making its way eventually.

The Apple rumor mill is churning, and today’s expected announcements are shaping up as far more than mere incremental upgrades. It is said that iPadOS is due for a radical change, thereby blurring the distinction between tablets and laptops. Imagine an iPad equipped with desktop-style windowing and multitasking that now would finally let iPad really shine. Getting past that, the buzz hints at that much anticipated UI overhaul and renaming of the new Apple tablet ecosystem.
