It is a moniker Apple herself assigned to the most ambitious visual update ever conceived and given. Imagine a world wherein widgets appear to have some translucent depth, notifications call attention to themselves with barely audible motion cues, and every interaction feels sincerely alive. Promised to be a dynamic yet unified experience, Liquid Glass will embed a perfect intertwining of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS aesthetic design in a breathtaking union.
Gone are the days of iOS 19. Apple’s software brings a time-travel twist this fall. Say hello to iOS 26! Hold on to your seats as iPadOS, watchOS, and the rest of the gang want to join the party. Apple did away with the old numbering system and decided to go with a year-based naming scheme. It is pretty bold and would certainly make the future of the Apple operating systems very clear.

Throw everything you thought about iOS out the window. iOS 26 is a visual revolution with a rather hush-hush announcement. The keynote revealed a design language that draws inspiration from the immersive world of visionOS, evoking a slight emotion awakened within one: almost ethereal elegance on the iPhone. Subtle changes, nothing drastic at all. Icons are now a little more detailed in their finer touches, toolbars stand out translucent, and the soft-up-rounded corners seem to dissolve away into the screen. The act of making and receiving calls from Phone and FaceTime apps will stay as it is, but in a futuristic packaging.
Get ready for an app rebirth! Forget anything you ever knew about the Phone app, as it is about to undergo its most major revamp since the very first iPhone glowed dazzlingly. Imagine having this one fluid space where your favorite contacts come together with call logs and voicemail, all waiting for your commanding thumb. A whisper-thin translucent bar clings to the bottom, granting entry to countless more connections and options. Then there is Hold Assist-a godsend from the heavens of customer service. Say goodbye to elevator music hell; this nifty feature stifles the noise while holding you on until the very human answers.

Ready to brighten discussions with custom background colors for your group chats and settle all those age-old debates with in-chat polls? Meanwhile, goodbye dreaded spam! Unknown senders will now be consigned to a separate inbox, so you can attend to conversations that really matter.
Messages is about to become much smarter-and much more fun! Give wings to your creative madness with Genmoji-the upcoming update ingeniously fuses two emojis into one glorious custom creation. Feeling uninspired? ChatGPT can come up with the perfect Genmoji for you! The Magic Translation continues beyond the borders of Messages from typing-in-words-to-get-in-another-language. Live Captions come next for FaceTime, while Apple Music will see its shares of live translations and pronunciation guides so that every world music would be available in any language. Over to developers, Apple is opening the opportunity for its Call Translation API, so more apps would already be joining the real-time translation bandwagon.
The power of Apple Maps is about to become seriously smart. Who wants routes that may always be the same? Your iPhone will be like a mind-reading co-pilot, throwing in suggestions for faster routes before the jam sets in. But the true magic lies with “Visited Places.” A travel and place journal, mutually built into your maps, cataloguing every city explored into memory, every landmark conquered, and every hidden gem discovered. With a tap, one can relive those experiences and find favorites. Hence, Apple Maps is assisting you and reminiscing along with you.
A scenario in which Mr. Big goes without his bulky wallet! The Wallet app just got an upgrade with the introduction of Digital ID, meaning your secure virtual self. Imagine: A unique digital identity not to be confused with a driver’s license or a passport, to be used as verified access at select locations. Now, add another reason to never again waste time at the airport searching for paper: insert your boarding pass directly to Wallet and zip through security. Travel as light as air.
Get ready for some upgrades! iOS 16 will drop a redesigned Gaming app to amplify your mobile game experience. Endless scrolling will be a thing of the past with an all-new Library tab, a home for every iOS game you’ve ever downloaded. Take a deep dive into the apple Arcade realm with its own tab, spotlighting the entire catalog. But really, the selling point? Challenges. Basically, you can challenge your buddies to supported games or use developer-laid-down magic that will turn your solo escapades into down-and-dirty face-offs! Get ready for mega bragging rights!
