Peak Design has entered the market once again, ready to set a new precedent for stability. Riding on the immense popularity of the Travel Tripod, they have now put on Kickstarter another trio of “Pro” contenders: Pro Lite, Pro, and Pro Tall. Open your wallets, because these professional tools not only raise your camera but also corporate on a very high price point, so much that even their highly praised Travel Tripod is looked down upon as a budget item.
Keep calm and crank it higher! With the Pro Tripod series, things start moving into the highest gear with stability and reach that can’t be challenged. Strong legs, CNC-machined to the last detail until the hub is a solid rock, and a center column with flanges are capable of actually going heavy. The Travel Tripod’s limit of 20 lb is laughed at by either the Pro or the Pro Tall, real 40-pound setups. Lighter weights? How about 35 for the Pro Lite?

Don’t let their physique fool you. While the Pro versions might require some extra room to travel, they still make for great backpacking companions. When collapsed, the Pro and Pro Lite are less than 20 inches, making them great for compact disguise. The Pro Tall extends slightly further, folding down to 22.9 inches. Weight-wise, the Pro and Pro Tall are a bit over 4 lbs; it is that trade-off for very good stability. The Pro Lite? A feather 3.7 lbs; perfect if you are counting every ounce.
Calling out all high-maintenance creators! The big-shot accessories are what Peak Design finally released for unmatched precision and stability. Want pleasingly smooth cinematic shots? The Tilt Mod converts your Pro tripod’s ball head into a smooth pan-and-tilt mechanism. Levels refusing to set because of untoward landscapes? The Pro Leveling Base stands and levels you on the spot. And ice, mud, or sand–the Pro Spike Feet grip like a madman, refusing to let your tripod move an inch. Take your art of filmmaking and photography to the upper echelon by embracing these craftsman-level trappings!

Think that Travel Tripod put a pinch in your pocket? Hang on to your hat, because then, it got serious. The Pro Lite, Pro, and Pro Tall tripods are estimated to hit the market at $800, $900, and a Polish number of $1,000, respectively. These, of course, aren’t yet carved stone prices-the project is just fresh from Kickstarter. But as we crowdfunders know all so well, the early bird always gets the worm.
The price tag itself might cause a little gasp-and with reason! Peak Design is not in the business of catering to amateur photographers; it is very much in the pro-level territory. Put it this way: the big boys in the tripod business, RRS and Gitzo, rarely sell for less than four figures. With our review, we’ll use the Pro Tripod extensively to see if it might just be a fit for the professional elite. Stay tuned!
Now October welcomes the arrival of the Pro Lite Tripod! But the rest of the adventure involves more possibilities. The Pro and Pro Tall models are signifed for a February 2026 debut. Ready for more? All details await discovery; see it shine in action below and help carry it further on Kickstarter.
