Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order updates ahead of the June 5 launch date

Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order updates ahead of the June 5 launch date

Who says we should preorder? June 5th is the day! If you did not get on that preorder frenzy, you are in good company. A few retailers still indicate it as “unavailable” or “coming soon,” so let us talk about launchday strategy.

With Nintendo Switch 2 stock ready and waiting, several retailers are planning early store openings on June 5. This is your opportunity! Forget about the online refresh button and rather hit the stores of Best Buy, Walmart, Target, or GameStop near you on launch day. The sooner you get there and brace yourself for a long wait, the better your chances go of walking home with the hottest console of the year. Good luck, and happy gaming!

The chase for Nintendo Switch 2 is on! Invitations landed in the inboxes of lucky Nintendo fans, offering an exclusive opportunity to press the pre-order button on the Nintendo online store. If you missed the memo, consider yourself out of line! These golden tickets are reserved only for those who had expressed their interest and met Nintendo’s clandestine “priority criteria.” Check your email, Switch hopefuls; your moment might be now!

Ah, so you must be in the lucky group! Check your inbox; you have 72 hours to make your purchase. Not yet your golden ticket? Patience, young Padawan. To this day, Nintendo has been focusing first on loyal Switch players and Switch Online members since April 2nd. Keep your eyes wide open; your invite could show up any moment!

Early birds and priority peeps, rejoice! Your Nintendo Switch 2 invite should (fingers crossed!) be landing soon. If you signed up late, then hang in there, young grasshopper. Nintendo had warned; we reecho: invites, and even consoles, will be a rarer sight than that rare shiny Pokémon before the June 5 launch. So please keep watching; however, do not hold your breath. The wait is part of the adventure!

Forget buying a Switch 2 anytime soon. Channeling the lows of the past console launch, Echo is a phantom with no more seconds to say “sold out” before this being vanished. From Walmart to Target, it scores a big fat zero. Since its release on April 24th, the Switch 2 has been playing hide and seek with the fuzzily agitated stateside gamers on the other end. When will the scarcity stop? You have better chances with us.

Still hunting for the elusive Switch 2? Never give up hope! We are tirelessly scouring the web for surprise restocks so that when the opportunity arises, we strike! To keep your spirits high, we’ve put together the most comprehensive pre-order options for the Switch 2 and fairly distilled all the crucial information for securing Nintendo’s next-gen console.

How to pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2 at the My Nintendo Store

The Switch 2 by Nintendo is enveloped in a cloak of mystery and one thing is already certain: you won’t easily get your hands on it. Invitations will begin rolling in on the 2nd of April. The invite will show up at your doorstep eventually, and with it, your chance to finally indulge in Nintendo’s next big thing.

A Golden ticket to Nintendo? Not quite Willy Wonka, but close enough. Invitarions should now be rolling out, with the early birddefinitelygetting the worm or, in this case, a highly coveted opportunity. Meeting specific criteria sure is key to leaping the line.

Might as well get those exclusive bonuses by being a Nintendo Switch Online member before April 2, 2025. Note: guest accounts of family plans don’t qualify; you need to have a fully paid account to qualify.

  • You must be a Nintendo account holder who is at least 18 years old.

Should you meet those requirements, half the work is done; you might just have the VIP front-row seats at Nintendo’s golden ticket event. Should you miss out though, then its waiting-game-life until the groves pick theirs, followed by a free-for-all-hurried-order scramble for the rest of the tickets. Email in hand? You’ve only got 72 hours to claim your prize. Ticking away!

From whence your ticket of chance arrives, you shall proceed to seize your opportunity in choosing between the Switch 2 console for $450, or $500 for a fully outfitted bundle withMario Kart World. Whereas an invitation can only one time ever be used for one console purchase. Don’t forget to stock up on critical accoutrements for a new gaming obsession while at it!

How to pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2 at other retailers

The chase for the elusive Switch 2 keeps on! After an agonizing two-week anticipation, the pre-orders finally opened at midnight ET on April 24. The next thing was a digital feeding frenzy. In a matter of hours, shelves thinned in Walmart, Target, and Best Buy. GameStop jumped in by mid-morning, only to meet the same swift fate. Whispers of Walmart occasionally opening a pre-order window lasted a fleeting 48 hours, but now? Crickets. Those still searching are the late-comers to the party!

Those places where you need memberships and treasure in their own right, Costco and Sam’s Club, also bore mention of Switch 2 listings. Would that be their herald for unleashing pre-orders? Time remains to decide. Newegg has an active page for the product, but the “buy” button is not cooperating so far. Amazon? All-store tile? More a possible thing than a reality at the moment. It is whispered that limited Switch originals were present on Amazon, thus hinting at chaos on launch day. Keep refreshing those pages, all involved! The season has arrived.

I wonder how much stuff is left on the shelves, or maybe it’s out of my hands and too late to act on. Build up your restocking strength by creating free accounts with major retailers, so pre-filling your shipping and billing information would be a good idea-speed is of the essence! And if you want instant alerts, install their apps and prepare yourself for a few distractions, for the item that you can’t have might just be there.

Time is ticking; and as at 1:15 PM ET on Friday, May 9, there were no Switch 2 listings on Amazon. No sign of either console package anywhere in the jungle. Eyes are on the prize, and direct links will be zapped to you as soon as they appear. Meantime, cruise through the Nintendo world on Amazon’s own hub.

How to pre-order Switch 2 accessories and games

Get ready to put your wallets a little farther apart, Nintendo fans! Pre-orders for the elusive Switch 2 are live, but hold onto your hats: while the console price remains stubbornly unchanged after that initial pre-order delay, some accessories are in for an unexpected price hike. Blame “market conditions” (tariff uncertainty, really!), and that $50 Switch 2 camera is now $55. The Pro Controller? $85 now, up from $80 days ago. The additional Mobious controllers also jumped to $95, and charging those controllers stepped up another notch – Charging Grip is now $40. So, in the midst of becoming hyped for the next-gen Nintendo experience, just remember these curveball costs. Your hype meter can shoot up, but your bank account might take the hit!

Next-gen Switch stuff is becoming as rare as a perfect run inMario Kart. Retailers still have some stragglers here and there or perhaps they are just in hiding, but their capture is turning into a real-world loot hunt. But don’t despair, future racers! Pre-orders forMario Kart Worldand the tantalizingDonkey Kong Bananzaare still open wide, thus promising Nintendo magic when this new console drops. Get your games locked down, then steel yourself for the accessory scramble.

Forget fiddly latches. The Switch 2, from its very inception, magnetically locks in its innovative Joy-Con 2s. These are not your grandpa’s Joy-Cons. With a new “C” button, oddly good mouse control, and gyroscopic precision for tilt, they’re a portable gaming revolution.

The real star is the upgraded console. For your eyes comes a spectacular 7.9-inch LCD display, throwing forth a dry 1080p resolution at a silken-smooth 120Hz variable refresh rate with HDR10. Stop squinting: the screen just demands attention.

That’s not all, gentlemen. Nintendo is joining the voice chat camp via GameChat, integrated into the Switch 2. You can now conversate with your team via in-built mic while striking down your target. The mysterious “C” button? Instant GameChat! The upside: it’s free until March 2026, and after this, it will be included with Switch Online. Portable gaming has entered a new era, and this one sure is magnetic.

Transform your living room into a 4K gaming arena with the new Switch! Nintendo has promised internal speakers upgraded and enhanced for immersive audio. The new dock will have a built-in fan that will put any overheating worries dead to rest, forcing the system into peak performance mode during extended gaming sessions. While exactly how much the elusive power leap is remains in the shadows until launch, early clues have pointed to a healthy jump, with rumors that such heavy-hitters asElden RingandCyberpunk 2077will be gracing the platform.

Beyond the screen, rumours indicate a charging revolution withtwoUSB-C ports. Storage woes? Not with a colossal shoot-up from 32GB to 256GB internal capacity! But hold on, vintage connoisseurs: expansion shall depend rather on the faster-and-more-pricey microSD Express cards. Nintendo’s got some interesting stuff up its sleeve, inferred from the early Switch’s 20.0.0 update: the Virtual Game Card system. Digital games lendable across consoles? And for local multiplayer madness? GameShare will let you share the fun wherein some titles can be enjoyed by two friends on a single copy.

Tariffs and the Nintendo Switch 2

The new Joy-Con for the Nintendo Switch 2

(Sam Rutherford for Engadget)

The April Direct presentation of Nintendo opened a window for the Switch 2, detailing the very appealing date of April 9 for pre-orders and announcing the entry price of $450. As fans were dropping their wallets to make a purchase, the run for the wallets was brought to a halt by President Trump’s sweeping degree of a tariff on China and certain other countries. Nintendo was forced to block pre-orders in the US and Canada.

President Trump’s trade policy is an odd one: a 90-day tariff reprieve of sorts on 75 countries offered some hope, yet the dark shadow of further tariff increase on China, presently standing at a hideous 145%, looms large, suggesting a complex and perhaps volatile path ahead.

A Switch 2 continues retailing at $450 in the United States and Canada… For now. Words from the horse’s mouth remind that price increases are not yet ruled out, thus it might pay for the gamers to get one sooner than later.

2019 witnessed muted production diversification for the Switch manufacturers as some component of production had shifted toward Vietnam. More interestingly, Vietnam was faced with a possible tariff increase of 46%! Lucky for the gamers now, the increase is on hold. For now, the less painful 10% tariff stands for 90 days. Your next Switch hangs in the balance.

For the new console production, Nintendo is reportedly increasing Switch 2 production in Vietnam to meet the sprawling demand, even if it means initial losses. This is obviously a gamble on the console’s long-haul potential because the pre-order frenzy seems to indicate an emerging supply crisis. A staggering 2.2 million gamers entered the pre-order lottery pre-operation on the launch date in Japan alone, a figure that is far larger than the number of units that could be made available to consoles during launch. The bold projection of 15 million units moving by March 2026 further lead to immense pressure for ongoing production. Will this aggressive approach really pay the returns, or will the residual capacity inflicting the late launch of Switch 2?
